News Release | Overland Park Chamber is a 5 Star Chamber

Fewer than 1% of the nation's chambers receive 5 stars

The Board of Directors and staff of the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the organization has earned the distinction of Accredited with 5 Stars -- the top designation -- from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for its sound policies, effective organizational procedures, and positive impact on the community.

The Overland Park Chamber has earned Five Stars each time since the U.S. Chamber first began bestowing stars as part of its accreditation process. The designation is received by fewer than 1% of the nation's chambers of commerce.

"This reaccreditation affirms the dedication and valuable work our Chamber does on behalf of its members and the community," said 2022 Chamber Chairman Tony Rupp, Foulston Siefkin LLP. "Overland Park is consistently ranked among the best American cities and it's only fitting that our chamber should also be among the best in the nation."

The U.S. Chamber's Accreditation program facilitates continuing excellence in the industry and fosters a pro-business environment across America. In order to receive Accreditation, a chamber must meet minimum standards in its operations and programs. This extensive self-review can take 6-9 months to complete.

The Overland Park Chamber achieved perfect scores in the Finance, Human Resources, Government Affairs, Program Development, Technology, Communications, Facilities, and Benchmarking sections of the application.

“This accomplishment by the Overland Park Chamber of Commerce is an acknowledgement of its truly excellent work,” said Raymond P. Towle, U.S. Chamber Vice President, Federation Relations and IOM. “Accredited chambers are recognized for their ability to serve as a resource to their region’s businesses while maintaining transparent governance practices, sound financial controls, safe work environments, effective communications, and value in programming. They are commended for their continued advocacy of free enterprise and leadership in their communities. It is a tremendous accomplishment.”
