Highways
Four major highways run through Overland Park: I-35, I-435, I-635 and U.S. 69. These major networks minimize commute times, providing convenience for local residents and workers and helping to lower the cost of doing business. No location in Overland Park is more than 3.5 miles from a highway, and more than half of the city is within one mile.
Air
Four airports serve Overland Park:
– Kansas City International Airport (KCI), 25 miles north of the city, is serviced by 11 airlines and has 45 nonstop flights. Visit BuildKCI to see the latest updates and progress on the new terminal
– Johnson County Executive Airport, Overland Park’s nearest airport, primarily serves private business jets and general aviation.
– New Century AirCenter, 10 miles southwest of the city, is part of the Intermodal and Logistics Park in Gardner, Kansas. It provides general aviation services for small single-engine jets, military, business and cargo jets.
– Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC), located 10 miles north of Overland Park in downtown Kansas City, serves corporate, charter and recreational flyers.
Public Transportation
Overland Park is served by RideKC, a metro-wide public transit system operated by the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority. The KCATA is responsible for planning, constructing, owning and operating passenger transportation systems within the seven-county, bi-state metro area. . The K-10 Connector travels from Overland Park to Lawrence, connecting Johnson County Community College and the University of Kansas. Additional local routes are provided within Overland Park and surrounding cities. Free Wi-Fi, bicycle racks, and wheelchair access are provided on all buses. Routes travelling into Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri connect to other routes within the RideKC system, with free transfers.
