Ways to Get Involved

If you're looking to get more involved in our business community, the Chamber offers numerous ways to contribute your expertise while building relationships with others who have similar interests.

Diplomats

Chamber Diplomats are the goodwill arm of the Chamber, serving as volunteers to welcome and engage new and existing members. They assist with ribbon cuttings and grand openings, promote member retention and attend Chamber events. Diplomats facilitate communication with, help identify member concerns, and promote connections among Chamber members.

New Chamber members are connected with a Diplomat as your Chamber mentor for the first year of membership.

Overland Park Young Professionals

The Overland Park Young Professionals (YPs) offers professional, social and philanthropic opportunities for our next generation of business and civic leaders.

YPs is open to business professionals ages 21-40. If you would like to receive emails with upcoming events, please complete a short contact information form and we will add you to the email list.

Public Policy & Advocacy Committee

Comprised of Chamber member representatives, our Public Policy & Advocacy Committee meets monthly to discuss governmental and legislative issues and recommends policy to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Publications produced from this committee include Policy Platforms for federal, state and local policies.

This committee typically meets on the second Friday of the month.

Talent Council

The Talent Council is an advisory committee that provides ongoing input on talent attraction and retention trends, practices and resources. It offers industry insights into the development of talent strategies and initiatives to help the business community continue to find skilled talent while also attracting new talent. Talent Council members include representatives from across the workforce development ecosystem, including industry, higher education, K-12, foundations and training providers.

Small Business Council

Our Small Business Council (SBC) supports, connects and strengthens small businesses. It convenes both new and established small business owners and entrepreneurs for peer mentoring, networking, shared learning and resource access.

The Council is a collaborative, educational and community‑building forum.

Leads Groups

Leads Groups give Chamber member representatives the opportunity to meet consistently in a non-competitive and mutually supportive environment to exchange leads and business referrals. Participation in our Leads Groups cultivates professional relationships, establishes trust, increases knowledge and builds business.

Currently, there are two Leads Groups, each with a capacity of 8-25 chamber members representing different industries.
